OG-image.jpg (1200×630)
Hey guys! I watched the MTV Video Music Awards the other night, and I have to say it was a lot better than the mess that was last year. New Entrants

~ So, does anyone remember that weird song from a few years ago called C'mon Let Me Ride, about sex by Skylar Grey and Eminem, that was on the countdown in early 2013? Well, yeah, and we all know who Macklemore is, the thrift shopper. Well, they're both together on a really good track this time for both of them, called Glorious. Skylar Grey has outstanding vocals in the song, and Macklemore has better verses than most of his previous songs, so this was a good comeback from both of them. Although it's good, it may fade on me in time. I would like to see some decent success here out of this single for now, all set aside.

~ Our second and final debut this week comes from Imagine Dragons, with a much better song than Believer. It's called Thunder. I do indeed like the sound effects in this song, and the vocals are pretty good sounding. Sure, this isn't this band's best song, but it's good for what it is. I would like to see this one rise higher than Believer very soon if possible, as that one needs to go.

Best Debut Of The Week: Imagine Dragons - Thunder

New Entrants

~ Our first entrant comes from Hey Violet, returning to the countdown with their new song, Hoodie. At first, I had mixed feelings about this song, but after repeated listens over the past week, I have grown into it. The song serves up several allusions to that one obsessive ex we have all had, and we have all probably been, at one point or another. The vocals aren't too outstanding, but I can live with them. The pace is very good and moves steadily. So, all said and done, this song is good at the time, and I would like to see how it does here, compared to this group's previous songs on the countdown this year.

~ Our second and final entrant of the week comes from P!nk, returning with What About Us. This song is a little different from what she usually does, but it is undeniably good either way. I like the slower, less crazy side to this song, and I am waiting to see how her new album, Beautiful Trauma, will turn out. In the end, this a great choice for a lead single, and I would like to see how it does here. I expect it to do good, regardless of everything.

What About Blurbs

~ Shawn Mendes - There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back is back atop the countdown. I definitely prefer this over last week's #1 song, so I'm fine with it being here.

~ Liam Payne - Strip That Down has made a rather large jump into to the top 3 this week. I wasn't exactly expecting this, but I don't really care what it does. It's just an okay song right now.

~ As we already addressed, Imagine Dragons - Believer did indeed fall from the #1 spot this week, much to my happiness. Hopefully we can see a reasonable decline from this song in the coming weeks.

~ As we all know this station loves to flatter their guest hosts, so Charlie Puth - Attention jumping into the top 5, after being at the end of the top 10 for months, was expected, but I'm definitely not complaining.

~ Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee/Justin Bieber - Despacito dropped out of the top 3 after that very large jump last week. At least it's still in the top 10, so I won't complain.

~ The Chainsmokers & Coldplay - Something Just Like This was in the top 10 for what seemed like forever. Hopefully we can see a little more of a drop from this song, before it starts becoming "old" to me.

~ Demi Lovato - Sorry Not Sorry made a massive jump into the top 20 this week. I am very glad this song is already doing well. It's one of my feel-good revenge anthems at the moment. Trust me, I need some revenge songs in my life.

~ Randomly, MAX/Gnash - Lights Down Low has been jumping higher, after months of being forgotten and doing poorly. I would have liked this success at first, but now parts of the song aren't with me anymore.

~ The Chainsmokers - Honest also made a very good second week jump into the top 20. I would like to see this one continue to rise as well.

~ Kesha - Praying didn't make as big of a second week as I was hoping, but at least it jumped. It is the best song here, and I was looking for a rise into the top 20, but that will probably happen next week.

~ Julia Michaels - Uh Huh is starting to revert back into the original opinion I had of it. I had expected this to happen. The song doesn't have enough to keep you hooked forever.

~ Hailee Steinfeld - Most Girls almost reached a top 10 status last week, but this week it dropped to almost the end of the top 30. I was hoping to see this song keep going, but we never know what'll happen here.

~ Halsey - Now Or Never took a little bit of an overdue drop out of the top 20 as well. This is a good thing.

~ Over the past week, I completely forgot we still had James Arthur - Say You Won't Let Go here. I guess it's just becoming that unimportant to me.

~ DJ Khaled/Rihanna/Bryson Tiller - Wild Thoughts had the biggest drop this week. I am not complaining, this song is just a "meh" one to me.

~ The Chainsmokers/Halsey - Closer has officially been here for one year! I am so happy we finally have a song worthy of the title. I am very happy to see that this is that song.

~ Noah Cyrus - Stay Together looks like it may have reached the end of the road. Oh well, it was nice while it lasted.

New Entrants

~ Our first entrant this week comes from Kesha, returning with one amazing comeback single. The song is Praying. This song is easily one of the best songs that has shed light on radio this year. As of right now, it is definitely in my top 10 for this year. As you can see (if you were paying attention to the color code), this is now the best song here. The reason that this is such a good song is due to the very meaningful lyrics, smooth instrumentals, as well as the powerful vocals. It all calls for a good song. This was the lead single off of her new album, which was released this past Friday. I definitely recommend the album, as the songs are very well done and worth each listen. I am also enjoying her other recently released song, Learn To Let Go very much. I would like to see this song do well here. It is truly a very magnificent track.

~ Next up this week we have Demi Lovato - Sorry Not Sorry. This song does definitely have me feeling "bad" every time I sing it. The lyrics and vocals may not be the best Demi has ever had, but it's definitely a very catchy song. It may qualify for my Ultimate Guilty Pleasure Of 2017, but we'll have to see what the rest of this year will bring. I wish it the best here in the meantime.

~ Finally, we have The Chainsmokers returning with their next single, Honest. I really have been enjoying this song, all though I had questionable thoughts on it at first. I just really like the lyrics, they speak to me on several levels, due to many things I have gone through lately. Isn't being a teenager just the worst? Yeah, it can be, when people you thought you could completely trust drop you and make you think it's your fault for the relationship going all over the place, but it's not. Anyways, that was a side note. All in all, I hope to see this one do good here. I don't doubt it will.

Best Entrant Of The Week: Kesha - Praying

HitBound
  • Macklemore/Skylar Grey - Glorious
  • The All-American Rejects - Sweat

  • Imagine Dragons - Thunder
  • Halsey - Bad At Love (DEBUT)
  • The Revivalists - Wish I Knew You
  • Rita Ora - Your Song
  • Zedd & Liam Payne - Get Low
  • Andy Grammer - Give Love
  • Bebe Rexha - The Way I Are (Dance With Somebody)

My Top 5 HitBound Picks
1. Bebe Rexha - The Way I Are (Dance With Somebody)
2. Rita Ora - Your Song
3. Cheat Codes/Demi Lovato - No Promises
4. Zedd & Liam Payne - Get Low
5. Imagine Dragons - Thunder

Sorry Blurb Sorry

~ Okay, any time now. Imagine Dragons - Believer having three weeks on the top is long enough. If we're being honest here, one week was too much itself. I stopped believing in this song a while ago.

~ Let's talk about that jump from Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee/Justin Bieber - Despactio. It made it to the top three, and how coincidentally after I talked about it being underrated here. It wasn't fast, but at least it made it there slowly.

~ Linkin Park - One More Light guided itself higher this week. It is really amazing how so many people come together at such a tragic time, and how something so tragic can live on and people will be so supportive. I wouldn't be surprised if this was in the top 10 next week.

~ All Time Low - Good Times is doing pretty good for a song I didn't expect to have a good time here. I don't mind its success at the moment, so it's okay, for now, at least.

~ Ed Sheeran - Castle On The Hill is crumbling finally. I really didn't understand what the big hype was with this song on this station.

~ Halsey - Now Or Never took a decent fall, nearly out of the top 20. I guess, it was either now or never for this song. I really don't care.

~ Speaking of large drops to the bottom of the top 20, Lady Gaga - The Cure died a decent amount of spots, to round out the top 20 this week.

~ MAX/Gnash - Lights Down Low hadn't dimmed it's light yet. I was really surprised by it's jump this week. I had thought this one would just hang out in the same area forever.

~ AJR - Weak gained strength and made it out of that depressing fall last week. I was hoping this wasn't the end for this one.

~ Louis Tomlinson/Bebe Rexha/Digital Farm Animals - Back To You reverted backwards and went in the wrong direction this week. Here's to hoping that this doesn't keep dropping in the coming weeks.

~ James Arthur - Say You Won't Let Go is starting to let go a bit, thankfully. It is almost out of the top 30.

~ Train - Play That Song looks like it's decreasing in plays and will hopefully leave soon. I am sick of this station overrating such a poor song.

~ Julia Michaels - Issues clearly had some issues this week on this station as it took quite the tumble, almost into the bottom 5. I really hope this isn't the end for this one.

~ Steve Aoki & Louis Tomlinson - Just Hold On is still at the end of the countdown. I just want this to make a departure, I haven't been holding on to this song in what seems like forever.

New Entrants

~ We only have one new entrant this week. That song is Julia Michaels - Uh Huh. At first, I believed this song was just "okay", but after repeated listens, I grew into it. Of course it isn't as good as Issues, but it's not bad. I don't think it will stick with me that long, but for now I'm enjoying the whisper pop vibe, and the strange production of this song. The lyrics, though, are the most flawed part of this song. They are just bland. We'll have to see how long this track sticks with me, but for now I'd like to see how it does. I won't be devastated if it flops, or if it succeeds. Either way, right now, I don't care.

My Top 5 HitBound Picks

5. Rita Ora - Your Song

Uh Blurbs

~ Imagine Dragons - Believer is no longer a good song. I would really appreciate it everyone stopped voting for this song. I wouldn't have minded it being #1 a few months ago when it was good, but now it's been done to death. It needs to be replaced, and I wouldn't mind if #2, or even #4, swooped in and took the title from it.

~ Another song we can do without in this top 5 is Sam Hunt - Body Like A Back Road. This song has no quality, and Hits 1 picked the worst country song to play on their station.

~ I completely forgot Lady Gaga - The Cure was still here and it's in the top 10. This just shows how unimportant the song is becoming to me.

~ Calvin Harris/Pharrell Williams/Katy Perry - Feels is almost to the top 10. I would like to see it make it. This is best song here, and we have some questionable songs in the top 10 at the moment.

~ Thank god you voters got Ed Sheeran - Castle On The Hill out of the top 10. It was definitely way overdue.

~ Linkin Park - One More Light has had the biggest jump this week. It doesn't surprise me, and it is a very good thing that a good tribute single like this is having good success. It just shows how much the world cares.

~ What I would like to know is why Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee/Justin Bieber - Despacito is doing so poorly here, compared to every other chart across the world. It needs to at least be in the top 10, then maybe I will feel better.

~ Childish Gambino - Redbone just keeps rising. Again, I never thought Hits 1 would pick up on such a creepy and weird hip hop, funkish song like this. I don't like it, but apparently others like this strange stuff.

~ I'm so glad Louis Tomlinson/Bebe Rexha/Digital Farm Animals - Back To You had a reasonable second week jump. I am loving this song a lot, and I would like to see it continuing to do well in the coming weeks.

~ DJ Khaled/Justin Bieber/Chance The Rapper - I'm The One made a big jump just when we thought we were going to get rid of it. Oh well, at least it's not the worst here.

~ Train - Play That Song has no business continuing to be here. This song did poor all over the world, so I highly doubt that many people could still be voting for it. It needs to leave guys, it's the worst song here.

~ I am so upset Selena Gomez - Bad Liar had the biggest drop this week. This song is one of the best here, and I wish it had done better than what it did. Oh well, I guess I just have to see what happens in the coming weeks.

~ Speaking of decent drops, Bruno Mars - That's What I Like took a very good tumble this week. Likewise, AJR - Weak also dropped, much to my dismay.

~ Aaron Carter - Sooner Or Later looks like it might be coming to it's end. I really wanted this song to do well. At least it was here, right? I guess that's okay, considering the several misses this station had this year.

~ Ugh. Maroon 5 - Don't Wanna Know just needs to get the boot. Enough is enough already.

2019 Year-End Post #4: My Top 45 Songs of 2019
