Panic! At The Disco (5) - Week Of October 6, 2018

Hey everyone! I'm sorry that I have not posted in about a month. The first month back to school has been a little hectic. It is also my junior year, which is a really important year so I have to be fully focused on school as much as I can. We are now entering October, which means we are getting closer and closer to 2019. That is so crazy to me, but it means that it is time to start constructing year-end posts and all of that. This year has gone by so fast. I also promise that the 200,000 Pageview Special is coming soon. I had to stop working on that. Anyways, without further adieu, before we get to this week's fresh 45, here are the songs we're saying goodbye to this week.

  • Dua Lipa - IDGAF (#35)
  • Train/Cam/Travie McCoy - Call Me Sir (#36)

New Entrants

~ First up this week, we have Silk City, which is a product of Mark Ronson and Diplo. They debut with Electricity, with the vocal content provided by Dua Lipa. I was not a huge fan of this song at first, but I am really enjoying it now. It definitely does have a different feel than many of the electronic-dance songs we hear nowadays. The production is the best thing here because it has a new and fresh feel. I like hearing something new from artists, especially when there are a lot of similarities in the recent days. I would love to see some success out of this one, but we will have to see what happens.

~ Our next debut comes from Shawn Mendes and Zedd with Lost In Japan. The production here is good, but I am not exactly sure whether or not I like this over the original version of the song. I do believe I like the original version better. The vocals are decent enough here, and this song is definitely a step up from the recent work we have seen from Zedd. So, hopefully we can see some decent success from this one.

~ Finally, we have my personal favorite entrant onto the countdown this week. It comes from The Chainsmokers, featuring country singer Kelsea Ballerini. The track is called This Feeling. I am not yet sure whether or not I prefer this song or Side Effects based upon my favorite song from them this year insofar. Drew Taggart and Ballerini sound really good on this track, and it just keeps getting better in my opinion. I really hope this one does well here.

Blurbicity

~ Panic! At The Disco - High Hopes is still our #1. I don't mind it that much, but with its large airplay on Hits 1, I have began to think of it lesser. I would have liked to see Back To You hit #1 at some point though, but I wouldn't think that would happen at this point.

~ Marshmello/Bastille - Happier is now my favorite song on the countdown. I have been enjoying this song quite a bit lately. I just think it is a really catchy and fun song. I am glad that it has made it this far in its countdown career.

~ The only thing that I'm not fond of in the top 10 is Zedd & Elley Duhé - Happy Now being there. It really did not take long for this song to just decline in quality for me. It's really just not a good song.

~ Speaking of songs that I am not too fond of, Weezer is in the top 20 with Africa. I really just don't see this song as a good cover of the original. There's not much a different. I like to see a little bit of a twist when artists do covers, but this really doesn't bring a whole lot to the table.

~ We are finally seeing a decline in The Middle, and just in time (in my opinion). This track has been pretty old for a while now. It has been done to death by pop radio. I am still a fan of Girls Like You, though, so I am a bit sad to see this one take such a hard fall this week.

~ All of our debuts from last week really didn't thrive this week. They are all below the #30 mark, except for one. Hopefully this is just a minor setback. The only one that I do not like at the moment is the one that managed to jump above #30.

~ It is sad to see that this is the end of Taylor Swift - Delicate's run, seeing that it took a massive fall this week. It was nice while it lasted.

~ I am glad to see that Brown & Gray - Top Down didn't go anywhere here. This song is just really displeasing in almost every way. Hopefully we can condemn this in the coming weeks.
