Entrant Reviews

~ Well, we only have one new entrant this week and that entrant would be Treat You Better from returning artist Shawn Mendes. Lyrically, this song is slightly dry, meaning the lyrics aren't the best. Vocally, he is astounding and sounds very less mediocre than in his other songs like Believe and Stitches, where the vocals were okay, then they took a turn to being plain and overall, bland. Overall, I'd say this is a win for Mendes and I'm thinking everyone else will like it as much as me and have it move forward on the countdown to a reasonable peak.

HitBound

  • Ben Rector - Brand New
  • Alesso/Nico & Vinz - I Wanna Know
  • Lukas Graham - Mama Said
  • Jordan Fisher - All About Us
  • Kent Jones - Don't Mind
  • Adele - Send My Love (To Your New Lover)
  • Bebe Rexha/Nicki Minaj - No Broken Hearts
  • Jacob Whitesides - Lovesick
  • 1975 - The Sound
  • Flo Rida/Jason Derulo - Hello Friday
  • AJR - I'm Not Famous
  • Magic! - Red Dress
  • Symon - Say
  • Disturbed - The Sound Of Silence
~ We only have one new entrant to HitBound this week as well, and that is Lukas Graham - Mama Said. This song was an uninteresting piece of music at first listen, not to mention the annoyance that a large percentage of the lyrics convey. I listened to it again, and in the middle, I realized that he has some decent vocals that allowed the song to be somewhat likable. Don't expect me to like this song for much longer, because it has a good amount of flaws, and one shining piece of work made me like it somehow, so I really would appreciate it if this song didn't graduate HitBound. It's from 2014 as well, which makes no sense in retrospect.

Top 5 HitBound Songs
1. Jordan Fisher - All About Us
2. Bebe Rexha/Nicki Minaj - No Broken Hearts
3. Adele - Send My Love (To Your New Lover)
4. Kent Jones - Don't Mind
5. Ben Rector - Brand New

Blurb You Better

~ So, G-Eazy/Bebe Rexha - Me, Myself, & I has finally slightly grown out on me. It took quite a while, but it was a really likeable song in my defense.

~ So, it doesn't look like Ruth B. - Lost Boy will last on this countdown. I'm thinking it has a chance of leaving next week. I don't care, because it doesn't matter at this point either way in my opinion.

~ Zara Larsson is a young artist that deserves recognition, and I can say the same about collaborator, MNEK. So, why does this have to happen to Never Forget You? Well, I have no idea, in a right mind, this song deserves a high amount of recognition because the song is definitely a good single to start off your fame with.

~ OneRepublic - Wherever I Go clearly isn't going to last much longer unless something happens to prove me wrong. It's such a shame.

~ Well, we got DNCE - Cake By The Ocean into the bottom half of the countdown, something that I wasn't expecting.

~ Alessia Cara is a new artist and she's deserving some recognition, which I'm grateful for. Wild Things is too much of a good song to have dishonored recognition.

~ The Summer Set - Figure Me Out is a song that is good, but it's just a space filler, it's a very good song, but I just don't see the great appeal about it, it's catchy and that's pretty much it.

~ Fifth Harmony - Work From Home seemingly will never grow out on me. I'll keep this song around for quite a while.

~ Ariana Grande - Dangerous Woman made it to the top 10. This is a very good thing, and oddly, it just keeps getting better each time I listen to it.

~ Sia/Sean Paul - Cheap Thrills caught on quick. Three weeks and it's already in the top 10. That's great.

~ James Bay - Let It Go is just a song that is okay and it will probably stay that way in my opinion for a long time.

~ We got P!nk - Just Like Fire into the top 5. This is amazing.

~ I am glad we have a good number one song. Mike Posner/SeeB - I Took A Pill In Ibiza was well worthy of this position.

Entrant Reviews

~ Our first entrant this week is Charlie Puth and Selena Gomez with We Don't Talk Anymore. This song was bland in my opinion at first. Then, just about a month ago, I listened to the song again and I just started liking it again. So, yeah, I hope it has some good success on the countdown.

~ I liked Ruth B. - Lost Boy a lot for about a week, and that's when it debuted on The Hot 45 Chart and left the next week. Before that it was bland and even a little boring, and now it's back to that. Don't be surprised if it's red in a couple of weeks. I would really love if it didn't have a long countdown tenure.

~ Next up we have returning band, All Time Low with Missing You. This song is decent, but not the best. Their previous song on the countdown, Something's Gotta Give was so much better than this one, this was a little bit of a downgrade. It's not awful, but it just feels like another space filler, so I don't care what happens with it.

~ Last week Alessia Cara - Wild Things debuted HitBound and I was like what the heck, aren't they overdue with this or something? Then I just listened to it again and realized that I still love it. I'm actually glad that this song debuted this weekend, because better late than never, right? Well, I hope it has a good countdown tenure.

~ Finally, we have DNCE debuting with their new song, Toothbrush. This song surpasses Cake By The Ocean by a longshot as their best song. This song is more fun and has a very catchy chorus, unlike Cake By The Ocean, which was boring, and now it's just annoying. So, nice job to them and I hope they have a good tenure with this song, because it's awesome.

Blurb Things

~ I'm honestly shocked that Gwen Stefani - Make Me Like You is still here. I'm not complaining, but Hits 1 usually gives her songs the boot pretty quickly.

~ I'm very glad that Zara Larsson/MNEK - Never Forget You managed to stay on the countdown this week.

~ Troye Sivan - Youth is taking a while to grow out on me.

~ It's very odd that Selena Gomez - Kill Em With Kindness held this week because it got a large amount of airplay.

~ Flo Rida - My House is finally starting to drop! This is good!

~ A little ironic that Lukas Graham - 7 Years becomes my worst song on the countdown on Father's Day, considering it's about a father. So, a little weird, but it's very old.

~ I'm glad that Sia/Sean Paul - Cheap Thrills made a good jump into the top 20. That is very good.

~ Ariana Grande - Dangerous Woman is just outside the top 10, let's get it in there next week.

~ Could we get P!nk - Just Like Fire into the top 5? It's so good!

~ It's good to see Fifth Harmony - Work From Home hanging on in the top 5. This song may never get old in my opinion.

~ It's also a good thing that Taylor Swift - New Romantics achieved the top spot again, it's a very good song still.

Reviews From Jack: Ariana Grande - Dangerous Woman

Hello guys! So, two major tragedies happened this weekend in the city of Orlando. First, on Friday night, voice alum Christina Grimmie was shot at a meet and greet after her concert and died on Saturday morning from the gunshot wounds. Then, on Sunday morning, a terrorist shooting happened at a gay nightclub in Orlando, which killed 50 and injured 53, and the number of deaths are still rising as loved ones still haven't heard about their family. These are two unspeakable tragedies out of hate. These murders are so awful. I could go on and on about these tragedies, but I have promised you guys an album review. So, before we get going let us use the hashtags in the comments #PrayForChristina and #PrayForOrlando
ariana-bw.jpg (620×395)
So, onto the main attraction that you all came for. A review of the fairly new album, Dangerous Woman from Ariana Grande. This album has 15 songs and I have to say it is a great album. Ariana Grande almost never disappoints me. She has a great vocal range. She probably has the best vocal range for the female artists of this time. On this album there's only one song that I slightly dislike and you will find that out in the review. So, let's get going.

1. Moonlight
This is a very sweet song and Ariana has great vocals on this track. It almost feels like a more mature follow up track from her freshman album, Yours Truly. Overall, it has a great lyrical setup and has a very grown up, generous feeling.

8.5/10

2. Dangerous Woman
As you all should know by now, I have strong opinions on this song and they are very good ones, I might say. Ariana stepped it up on this track and it has a great kind of pop/R&B feel. It has some "dangerous" lyrics, no pun-intended, even through I'm kidding. Overall, she did great on this track and her vocals are on point. One of the flawless tracks on this album

10/10

3. Be Alright
This is actually a more 90's inspired dance track. I really think Ariana was attempting to do this for a more of a song that you can get down to in a club. Let me tell you, she did fairly good on this. It wasn't perfect, but it was good. Overall, a good party track.

8.5/10

4. Into You
First, let me say that this is an amazing, sweet song. Ariana has the most astounding vocals in this song. The high notes are hit so well and she really mixes the balance of low and high tones in the track. This is definitely one of the best, if not the best song from the album.

10/10

5. Side To Side (ft. Nicki Minaj)
Ariana has collaborated with Nicki Minaj before and this is in fact her third time collaborating with her, and this song had a great outcome just like the others that they joined forces in. Ariana and Nicki both contribute great amounts to the song, Ariana's vocals are done good and Nicki's rapping is phenomenal. Overall, a good track to jam out to.

9.5/10

6. Let Me Love You (ft. Lil Wayne)
Ariana has collaborated with underrated rappers before on her sophmore album, like Childish Gambino and A$AP Ferg, but on her junior album she stepped it up and decided to collaborate with more known rappers like Lil Wayne and Future. Even though all four are good, this track shines in comparison to the other three. Ariana's vocals are very sultry and very mature in this song, and Lil Wayne's verse at the beginning waters the song down, and then his rap makes the song's potential amazing. This was one of the great tracks from the album.

9.5/10

7. Greedy
This song is so good, especially the opening note. Ariana is so good in the chorus and I can't believe how well she does in the song. Seriously, this is pretty much flawless. Everything is perfect.

10/10

8. Leave Me Lonely (ft. Macy Gray)
This song, oh, this song. Macy Gray's voice at the beginning is so dark and mysterious it just makes you want to keep listening to see what awaits you. At first, I didn't think I was going to like this one, but boy was I wrong. This song really tests the vocal range of both Ariana and Macy and the production and lyrical content was so well put together. I just can't stop singing it. It would go so good in a mysterious, sexy movie, like possibly the next installment of Fifty Shades Of Grey. This is one of the best songs that the album has to offer.

10/10

9. Everyday (ft. Future)
This song has some very fixable flaws. For example, the overall lyrical production isn't great, but Ariana's vocals make up for that. It does get a tad annoying with the word "everyday" getting repeated, but then you get used to it so it's fine, Future didn't do bad, but it could've been better. Overall, this song definitely wasn't great, but it wasn't awful. It just feels like it was put together at the last minute and they got a little lazy with it. It's still a song that gets me dancing and not the worst on the album.

8.5/10

10. Sometimes
I know that this is a girly track, but it's really good. Ariana really made up for this, because to be honest, I didn't like it as much as I do now after first listen. It grew into me slightly and now it's really good. The best part about the song is the chorus.

9/10

11. I Don't Care
This is the song. This is the song that "I don't care" for, again no pun-intended, but really just kidding. This song really is a watered down song follow up to some of the songs from My Everything. I just really can't see anything that stands out in my face from this song. It's good, but seriously, the worst on the album, even though it's not bad.

7/10

12. Bad Decisions
Yes! Yes! Yes! Ariana kills it on this song. I love when she says the line "ain't you ever seen a princess be a bad b*tch? Yes! This has amazing lyrical content to fit the meaning of the song, a diss at Big Sean, that she says he made her lick the donuts and make, essentially the wrong decisions. It's just so irresistible and infectious. A standout track for sure.

10/10

13. Touch It
This is a sexy song, and it really brings out the mature songs that Ari was really aiming for. I just have to say that it's a really catchy tune and always has me singing along.

9.5/10

14. Knew Better/Forever Boy
This one was a little different, but not bad. I think an a/b side track was a strange fit for this album, but I liked it. Overall, Ari's vocals weren't bad at all, it got a little slow during the middle though, which kind of affected my opinion as the song as a whole.

8/10

15. Thinking Bout You
This is a great song and it's just one of those love songs from Ari, picking up from her last album. This was just an amazing, standout tune, and I love it, a definite perfect song yet again.

10/10

That's all I have for you today! The 30,000/15,000 Pageview Special Idea Pitch should be coming on Thursday, as scheduled, I have some good ideas communicating in my brain at the moment, and there will hopefully be a special out soon when I give you the pitch. What's up everyone. I'd like to say that this week wasn't awful, but there were some bad points about it. Well, I'm not going to waste much time in the introduction except that I end school on Monday. Big news! We have achieved 30,000 pageviews! Debuts

~ Starting off our great entrant week is Sia and Sean Paul with Cheap Thrills. This song is really good and so fun to sing and dance to. It's a party song and it really will make your party great. I hope this song has a good countdown tenure because it's so good.

~ Selena Gomez is back again! This time with a positive, peacekeeping song, Kill Em With Kindness! This song is very good as well, the lyrical setup isn't the best but her vocals are so on point. It really is a good and positive song and I hope it has a good tenure like her other recent songs have.

~ Meghan Trainor - Me Too has debuted! This is easily one of my favorite, if not my favorite, of the singles from Meghan. Her vocals on Me Too are good and the funky dance/electronic style is really cool. I hope Hits 1 treats it good.

Cheap Blurbs

~ I'm so glad that Gwen Stefani - Make Me Like You has been holding on. This song was bound to leave about a month ago, but it's been clinging on for hope. It's good, because I still like the song.

~ So, Jason Derulo - If It Ain't Love has obnoxiously dropped. Why does Hits 1 have to get rid of his good songs so early and keep his godawful ones? It's really annoying.

~ Let's get The Weeknd - In The Night out of here. It's dropping, so that's good.

~ Charlie Puth - One Call Away is still holding the title of worst song on the countdown.

~ It's very annoying that Zara Larsson/MNEK - Never Forget You made a big jump and now it's dropping.

~ I wish Flo Rida - My House dropped more. Oh well.

~ It's good that Pitbull/Enrique Iglesias - Messin' Around had the biggest jump, I hope it gets higher up next week.

~ Yes! Ariana Grande - Dangerous Woman has achieved a new peak and it's close to the top 10. Let's go.

~ Yes again! P!nk - Just Like Fire has achieved a new peak and it's again, very close to the top 10. Let's go.

~ It's very good that Mike Posner/SeeB - I Took A Pill In Ibiza is back in the top 10. Let's keep it there.

~ Fifth Harmony - Work From Home is finally in the top 5! This is another great thing that happened this week.

~ It's a tad annoying that Panic! At The Disco - Victorious made a jump back into the top 3.

~ Justin Timberlake - Can't Stop The Feeling! is at the top again! This is a good thing!
