New Entrants
~ First up this week, we have a song that is quickly gaining steam all over other charts. Ed Sheeran spawns yet another single to the countdown. This one is called Perfect. This is a slower, more toned down song, which contrasts all of the other tracks he's released as singles from his latest album. This also marks what I think is the first time an artist has had four songs on this countdown simultaneously (you may have to check me on that). Anyways, the track is pretty good in my opinion. It took me a few listens to really develop a solid opinion on this one. I think the vocals really are well-done on this track, and it's a nice thing to see a slower song from an artist now and then. As if this will be bigger than his earlier singles from this album, I don't think so, but I do believe that it will be a bigger hit than it's predeceasing single. I hope to see it have some success here.
~ Next up, Fergie is back with Nicki Minaj. They collaborated on a track which is titled You Already Know. If you can recall, Fergie released a couple of singles months back that were the predecessors of this one. Those singles did indeed flop on the charts, and were frankly not good at all. This one, however, is something I can get into. I do like the vocals and the production is indeed strange on this one. It did take me a few listens to get into that. The lyrics aren't the best they could be, but there is a lot of nice things that make up for them. Nicki's verse flows very smoothly, which is another good quality on this one. All in all, it's a good club track and a good one to dance to with friends. So yeah, I hope to see this one have some decent success here.
~ Our final debut of the week comes from Evaride. They are a new group bringing their first single, Heartless. It is a very good first single in my opinion. These guys can sing, so it's not another generic pop group. That's definitely a good sign. I also find the lyrical content on this one very good, so we'll see how it does here. I don't know if it will really take off on this countdown, as it is their first single, but we will have to wait and see.
Best Debut Of The Week: Evaride - Heartless

Blurbs Already Know
~ Ed Sheeran reigns again on the countdown with his least successful single from his album thus far, Galway Girl. This song clearly isn't terrible, but there are certainly some better contenders for the #1 spot in the top 5.
~ Well, this is good news! Portugal. The Man has hit the top 5 people with Feel It Still. I am very glad that this one has been so successful. This is one of my favorites at the moment, so I'm very happy about this. Hopefully this will not be one of those songs to reach a peak here and drop out from it the next week.
~ We also find Taylor Swift - Look What You Made Me Do back in the top 10. This is where this song belongs, so I am happy about this. This song is also the best one here right now, so there's another reason it's a good thing that this song is back above the #10 mark.
~ Charlie Puth - How Long made a very impressive and promising second week jump. I am very delighted about this one being so successful right off the bat. I'm glad it's here and making a significant mark.
~ We also find Taylor Swift back in the top 20 this week with ...Ready For It?. I don't expect this one to be a top 10 hit, but as long as we can see it have some success above the #20 mark, I'm happy.
~ It's good to see some success out of The Script - Rain. They also had a very good second week jump this week. Sadly, they did not reach the top 20, and just fell short. Maybe we can see an entry from them next week, though.
~ We finally got a drop from The Chainsmokers & Coldplay - Something Just Like This. Not that I hate this song, but it was time for it too ween off of the area towards the top of the countdown. Where it is right now, is a space I won't mind seeing it for a while.
~ Sabrina Carpenter made almost a ten spot jump with Why this week. I am so glad to see her song doing well here. I am happy to see her finally having success with one of her singles.
~ Sam Smith - Too Good At Goodbyes does not look like it will be returning to the top 20 any time soon, or ever again for that matter. It is really flopping here. I don't know why, as it is definitely one of the most popular songs out right now.
~ Camila Cabello - Havana also seems to be flopping even more after each week. This really upsets me, because I really like this one, but maybe it'll be one of those miracle songs.
~ Well, I'm sure most of us aren't happy to see such a good song with such an important message have the biggest drop this week. Logic/Alessia Cara/Khalid - 1-800-273-8255 fell the largest amount of spots this week, and it is very unsettling. You people need to get your act together.
~ Kygo & Selena Gomez - It Ain't Me looks like it might be on its last legs. Well, it was sure a pleasure to see this one here. I am still enjoying it, so I would be happy to see this one stay a few more weeks if it could.

Great job as always Jack. I´m glad someone agrees with me that Castle On The Hill is bad. I was very disappointed when Something Different & Would You Mind left Hit-Bound this week. Here is to hoping its successors debut.I´m surprised that you think a lot of songs are old/starting to get old. But I understand. I´m starting to grow out of Galway Girl. I knew it just wasn´t gonna stick with me for longer.

Delete*sees third blurb* Well, bad news for you, because you may have just heard that it took a BRUTAL drop on Radio Songs on Billboard, from 5 to 20. It's still in the Top 10 as of this week, but it definitely won't be next week.
ReplyDeleteYes I am aware. It's saddening.
DeleteWell, good news for you, Ed Sheeran is releasing "Supermarket Flowers" as next single.
