Entrants

~ AJR - I'm Not Famous is good for what it is but isn't better than I'm Ready. It's generic, but I still find the vocal content interesting. So, with it's decency I hope it stays around for a little bit.

~ Now we're getting better, Hits 1! I am overjoyed that Ariana Grande - Into You has debuted on the countdown! This song is easily one of my favorite songs of 2016. Ariana's vocal range is so amazing and it truly shines in this song. This song has good lyrical content and Ariana's voice makes it sound surreal. This is definitely a win for her and I hope it has worthy success on the countdown.

Into Blurbs

~ How the heck is G-Eazy/Bebe Rexha - Me, Myself, & I still here? It's been on the lower half of the countdown for months.

~ Nick Jonas/Tove Lo - Close was in the top 10 two weeks ago and now it's in the bottom 5. Ouch.

~ Taylor Swift - New Romantics was in the top 10 two weeks ago and now it's in the bottom half of the countdown. Again, ouch.

~ Fifth Harmony - Work From Home isn't departing on me anytime soon. It's still one of my main jams.

~ It's kind of annoying that OneRepublic - Wherever I Go hasn't done much on this countdown. It feels like it was a flop.

~ Jordan Fisher - All About Us, Jacob Whitesides - Lovesick, and Demi Lovato - Body Say all had the biggest jumps when they were all debuts last week. That's interesting.

~ The 1975 - The Sound has entered the top 20. Honestly, it's annoying because we don't need any more "okay music" in the top 20

~ Drake/Wizkid/Kyla - One Dance seems to be taking the Alessia Cara - Wild Things path. Just saying, it looks eerily similar.

~ Meghan Trainor - Me Too is becoming a very, very, very tiny bit more worse after each listen.

~ Calvin Harris/Rihanna - This Is What You Came For is becoming a very, very, very, tiny bit more better after each listen.

~ It's rather annoying that Sia/Sean Paul - Cheap Thrills didn't get to the peak of the countdown. Now it's dropping slowly, but surely.

~ Ariana Grande - Dangerous Woman is jumping higher and higher. A little late, but I'm okay with it.

~ If Daya - Sit Still, Look Pretty reaches the top of the countdown it'll be annoying because it's nothing special.

~ Justin Timberlake - Can't Stop The Feeling! will probably be at the top for twelve weeks like other songs.

  3. Can someone please explain what's so good about Work From Home? Its not even a good song at all. Its generic, bland, boring beat, toppled by mediocre vocals of Fifth Harmony, and the annoying repetitive chorus and lyrics of having their men stay at home just to have sex with them! There is nothing catchy about this song, its beat is ripped straight out of one of the worst songs of all time, and the breathing in the background is so distracting. And what the hell is with the chorus? Why do they have to put such space between their words? At least Rihanna knew to sing the chorus fast enough to be catchy and memorable. This is just filler. Seriously, someone please tell me what's so good about this trash heap of a song?

    1. It has a fun beat, good vocals, and just makes you want to get up and dance, or even sing. It's overall a fun song to jam out to.

    2. heathens really needs to make it onto the countdown

    3. The beat is boring and monotonous. Its not a dance song, its boring. The vocals are nothing special, and Camila's voice is grating on this song, she cannot sing. This is not fun, or danceable or even something to sing. The lyrics are basically telling this guy to quit, or even get fired to stay home and have sex with his girlfriend. That is ridiculously stupid, dumb, and worst of all its not sexy! Fifth Harmony is trying to portray themselves as the new Pussycat Dolls, but here's the thing, the Pussycat Dolls had talent, they could sing, and they knew how to make a song sexy, energetic and actually have emotion. This "group" on the other hand is nothing like the Pussycat Dolls. There is no energy in this song, no passion, and no emotion. How anyone could like this song is beyond me, because this is awful.

    4. That's your opinion. I like the song and sometimes I don't dig too much into the meanings. I let loose and have fun with it!

    5. Well unlike you, I actually have a good taste in music. When I listen to music, I'm not one of those sheep in the public that think everything on the radio is good regardless of quality. I actually like music that has a purpose, a meaning, and has good quality. Songs like Rise, Fight Song and Stronger have a self-empowerment that while generic at times, actually is better than most of the crap the public buys into. Among the trash heap are songs like Stupid Hoe, Baby, Dance Ass, Rack City, L.A Love, Birthday Cake, London Bridge, Me Too, Marvin Gaye, Hotline Bling, Kiss Kiss, Crank That, Dear Future Husband, Worth It, Work From Home, Anaconda, Touch My Body, I Wanna Fuck You, Panda, Ice Ice Baby, Dark Horse, Blurred Lines, This Is How We Roll, This Is How We Do, Loyal, Music, and Surrounded By Silence. I actually like dance music, that is actually danceable, not bland, boring and generic pop music like Work From Home. I want music that's good, that has quality, that has a meaning. Work From Home has a terrible meaning, no quality, and is not good in the slightest. And your so-called defense for Work From Home is extremely weak.

    6. Listen up. I'm not going to stand around being called a sheep and someone who has no taste in music. I'm sure you have songs that are like my Work From Home but you don't want to say anything about it. Want to hear a much better defense because I'm so weak at it? You got it! Work From Home has a very party like feel that makes you want to let loose and have fun. The vocals, especially Ally's and Camila's are exceptional. The lyrical content isn't at its best but the vocal work makes up for it. Also, adding Ty Dolla $ign to the song fits very well with their vocals and the build up to the last chorus is phenomenal. Why don't you just give that hypocritical and rather mean response to America because they seem to agree with me.

    7. I didn't realize you'd actually be one of those obnoxious people who say other people don't have a good taste in music. What makes the world different and unique are our different opinions. If everyone in this world liked the same exact thing, it would be boring. But you just have to be one of those people who can't take in the fact that people actually have different opinions and actually like songs like Work From Home. I don't really like it anymore, but I did at some point. So I can understand why some would like it. But not everything we like has to be self-empowerment. Sure, we should definitely get songs like that. But at some point, I want songs I can dance to and have fun with. Yes, meaning is important. But at some point, I want to be able to just let loose completely. I was able to do that with songs like Anaconda, Worth It, and Work From Home. Work From Home is certainly danceable as I've legit seen people get down to this song at dances and stuff like that. You may not be able to dance to it, but that doesn't mean everyone else can't. I honestly can't stand people who say things like "Unlike you, I actually have a good taste in music." Sure, I say that to my friends as a joke when we're in a disagreement. But you sound legitimately serious right now. I'm not necessarily bashing the fact that you listen for meaning and purpose. I think that's great. It's the fact that your bashing other peoples' opinions that I can't stand. Everything you said, you made it sound like they're facts when in reality, they are also opinions. Not everyone agrees with you, Miles. I hope one day you realize that. Now overall, I may not have done much defending for Work From Home. But I am for sure defending Jack and everyone else's right to have a freakin' opinion.

    8. Alright, I'm sorry I said you have no good taste in music. I just can't stand how people think that boring, sludgy songs like Work From Home is "good." This beat does not represent a party song or a song for people to dance to. Its trying way too hard to be a sex song, and it fails. Hell, Marvin Gaye was a better sex/dance song than this, at least it actually has a beat you can dance to. Hell, I actually danced to that song at my Homecoming dance last year. I cannot imagine that with this boring beat, mediocre vocals, and god-awful lyrics, I would never like this song, no matter what.

Oh, and by the way, I don't care what the American public always think, because most of the time their wrong. Look at the reviews most of the songs get, and I bet you will find at least 1 negative review on Work From Home.

And by the way, I do let loose and have fun every once in a while. (Pardon the pun) Why do you think EDM exists? why do you think most of the songs on the radio I like are party songs. Cheap Thrills, Can't Stop The Feeling, Don't Let Me Down, I Took A Pill In Ibiza, Into You, Never Be Like You, etc. If I wanted to let loose and dance, I want a song to be just as energetic as if its supposed to be played at a dance/club. Work From Home has little to no energy to call itself a dance song. I'm sorry for insulting you, I got out of hand, I really am.

  4. Although New Romantics isn't my favorite song from the album, I still want it to last just two more weeks, because then the 1989 representations as a whole will have spent a two year tenure on the countdown since Shake It Off debuted on 8/23/14. Maybe it'll do an Unsteady and make a rebound?

  5. And on another (off-topic) note, I mentioned this in Adrian's page where you mentioned your 5 least favorite countdown songs so far, but I'll say it here again where it's less likely to be crowded out: I'm surprised that Get Ugly by Jason Derulo wasn't in that bottom 5, given it spent more time in orange than any of those #1s. But I guess you find the other songs more overplayed and less tolerable. Just found the lack of that one a little odd.

2019 Year-End Post #4: My Top 45 Songs of 2019

2019, similar to years past, has been a pretty average year for music. There was a lot of bad, but there was also a lot of good. This year ...
