Goodbye? Hello? New Start? Let's Talk.

Hey guys. It has been quite a while since I have been here. I have had a very busy schedule and quite a lot of events have happened in my past few months of life, in which I have not been particularly sharing with you on the Internet and within this website. I hope you can respect that some of it I must keep to myself, and would not wish to share with you at this point in time. The last few months, nevertheless, have definitely allowed me to grow. I turned sixteen a couple of months ago. There's one thing that definitely allowed for change in my life.

It's not like I had expected to take a break without notice from this blog. The weeks just eventually crept away from me, and honestly I could see that me being inconsistent with my posting was bound to have happened at any given point during this year. I never even got to finish all of my year-end posts for 2017. However, many of you have been checking back regularly since my last post back in February. You managed to give me about 20,000 extra views since then. I thank you immensely for that. Truthfully though, I definitely felt like the long period of time in which I stopped posting on this website was somehow very beneficial. Also, I knew that all of the work I had for school was going to catch up to my free time. Obviously school comes before this, as much as I love reviewing music. I obviously value school very much and work as hard as I can. Last week, my school held our annual Academic Awards Ceremony, and I was named Most Outstanding Student in all four of my core subject areas, my Spanish Class, earned a Scholar Athlete Award; as I also participated on the Tennis Team this spring, a research award for a history competition in which I participated in and made it to the New York State finals, as well as earning the title of Most Outstanding Male Student in my grade and an award for being on the High Honor Roll every quarter. I was immensely proud of my accomplishments. None of this means that I never forgot about this along the way. I still kept writing charts for my other blog, kept listening to the Sirius XM Hits 1 Weekend Countdown, and still read all of your blog posts (without commenting, as I wanted a break from all of this in some way).

I don't know if you completely missed my reviews, as you could definitely have received other opinions due to the massive amount of blogs pertaining to the same topics in this community. I began to think that I really was going to just have to say goodbye, as there were things in my life that were more important, truthfully, than this. And I love this SOOOOO much. I love music SOOOOO much. Family, friends, school, it all has to come before my free time when I can post these.

I just got out of school for summer vacation yesterday, and I realized that I should probably make a post on here. I haven't talked to you guys in a while. I'm not sure if many of you are still here after my long string of absence, but if you still are, I am here. Please comment below, I want to hear from you. Please, please, please comment. Let me know you're still hear. I am definitely going to reply.

Anyways, I am going to cut to the chase. What I want for this blog for this summer, until September, when I go back for my junior year, is to post as much as I can. I am not necessarily going to review the countdown all the time. I might be doing album reviews, song reviews, and other cool things like that. I also have summer homework (yes I know that is crazy), too. So, I still will have occupied time, but a little more free time to spend on here. However, when school starts back up in September, I am going to have a pretty busy year. I am going to be taking two AP classes, a college class, and an honors class. It's going to be pretty strenuous. I also want sleep. I will try to post as much as I can on the weekends, when I can, and only if I can. I hope you understand and respect that. This blog will probably no longer be completely Hits 1 focused. As for my other, less-popular blog, I probably will not be posting on there anymore, but I really haven't decided on that yet. I'll keep you posted.

In all, that's all I have to really say right now. Comment below, let me know you're still here. I want to talk to you guys. Keep reading. I'll keep you updated when new posts come out. I look forward to what summer holds.

-Jack :)

  2. Hi Jack,

Believe it or not, I actually thought of you this morning (hopefully that’s not weird). I was thinking how it was a while since you had posted and I actually looked here to see how long it’s been. I definitely have not forgotten about you since you’ve been going at this for quite a while (I wanna say almost as long as me, though not quite). I completely understand how busy you’ve been with school. I was busy too a couple months ago, though not as bad, and I struggled to get posts out on time. So you taking a break is very much understandable. I just wanna say that whatever you end up deciding to do, I’ll support you. I really enjoy reading your blog and what you have to say. But don’t overload yourself. Good luck making your decisions. I look forward to what you have to offer. :)

    Best,
    Adrian

  3. I'm so glad you're back! I have missed your countdown reviews. I can't wait to see what stuff you will bring to this wonderful blog. I too, have limited posted due to school (Although I am certainly not at the difficulty level as you are in school). I hope you don't mind if I ask you for some countdown song opinions (Answer as many as you would like whether it be all or just some):

    Sam Smith/Logic - Pray
Shawn Mendes - In My Blood
AJR/Rivers Cuomo - Sober Up (I recall you had this in blue the last time)
    Maren Morris - Rich
Calvin Harris/Dua Lipa - One Kiss
    Zayn - Let Me
    Echosmith - Over My Head
    Maroon 5/Cardi B. - Girls Like You
    The Wrecks - James Dean

    1. Hi Dylan! Thank you so much and thanks for reading! Of course I will share some opinions.

For Pray, it was definitely something that I was enjoying a little while ago, but it has been a song that really has faded on me over time. It’s just somewhere in the “good” zone for me.

In My Blood has been one of my favorites lately. Definitely something that is at the top of my rotation whenever I’m listening to music.

For Sober Up, it has been pretty steady exactly where I left it last. It’s jusy good in my opinion.

Rich is something that I’m not a huge fan of to be particular. The song as a whole is not exactly something that I enjoy.

One Kiss is honestly one of my jams at the moment. The production and lyrics are so good, even though it’s all so repetetive, it’s really catchy.

For Let Me, it’s a song that I really like. It needed some growing on me at first, but I have been listening to it a lot more lately. His voice sounds nice in the song.

Over My Head is something I don’t have a huge opinion on. It’s good, to say the least.

Girls Like You is pretty good in my opinion. I really enjoyed their concept for the music video especially. The vocals are pretty nice and it flows smooth.

I have not yet had the chance to hear James Dean in full. I will get back to you on that one.

I know these opinions are very brief. I will try to get more into them when I get a little back into posting this summer.

  4. Hey and glad you were able to post again! Whenever I went to the sidebar to look at others’ blogs, I always saw yours and wondered if you would post again, and I’m glad you got around to it. Since I don’t follow the countdown much anymore (I spent most of my time nowadays on other sites like Pulse and Discord), I’d like to see posts like album and song reviews, but regardless I’ll look forward to whatever you post. Also, congrats on getting all of those school awards as I think that’s really impressive how you got all those. But yeah, glad you’re back and I’m interested in seeing more. :)

    1. Thank you! I will try to post as much as I can. However, like I said, it’s not going to be as much as it ever was, sadly. Thank you so much for reading and commenting, Parker. It means a lot!

  5. Yay the other Taylor Swift stan is back!!!

So, what I've been wondering since you left...how do you feel now that "that unpopular song" Mine is now a hit?

Also, I created a new rankdown here. I'm telling you because you'll probably be interested as you know some the songs; it's of all of the songs Hits 1 has debuted on the WC that are unpopular. You can find it on my blog. :)

    1. I am back! Haha. I have become quite the stan of a lot of other artists too when I’ve been gone. I’m not completely bothered by the fact that Mine is a hit, either. Thank you for reading so much, .! I will definitely go check out that rankdown on your blog when I have the chance today. I am so glad you’re here!!!!!
