Ed Sheeran (1) - Week Of February 11, 2017

o-ED-SHEERAN-facebook.jpg (2000×1000)
Tonight is the 59th Annual Grammy Awards on CBS. I'm sure most of you are greatly anticipating the premiere of this show, as I am as well. Of course we should all be excited about the biggest night in music! In other news, I had a snowstorm on Thursday, which closed my school, but I am now learning that was just the beginning, as this morning the storm strikes again with a projected ten to eighteen inches in my area. I can definitely already predict there will be another snow day for me again tomorrow. Anyways, this may allow me to work on the still unreleased Hot 45 Chart Year-End Chart post. Besides everything, this was an interesting week, so before we get to this week's fresh 45, here's the two tracks we're bidding goodbye this week.

New Entrants

~ Starting off our entrant class of two this week is Bruno Mars - That's What I Like. I have to say straight up, this song is definitely better than 24K Magic, and even the dull Versace On The Floor. I just think that this is in the middle of the two styles of the above mentioned songs. I feel like it still has that
love song vibe, like in Versace On The Floor, but with a slightly less excessive beat than 24K Magic. All in all, it is definitely the best song that I have heard thus far from his new album. However, I don't see this song being green for its entire countdown run. I could see it becoming blue very quickly if this station overplays it, but for now, I am enjoying this track and I hope to see it have some success here, not that I don't see it having any anyways.

~ Our second and final debut of the week, debuting at a decent spot is Bebe Rexha returning with a solo single, I Got You. When I first heard this song, I didn't think it was anything too special, but in the past few weeks, I have really begun to grow out of that original view on this song. I just really think Bebe's solo music takes some time to grow into, but once you do., it really sticks with you for a while. So, yes, I would enjoy seeing this song have some reasonable success here.

Best Debut Of The Week: Bebe Rexha - I Got You

HitBound
  • The Vamps/Matoma - All Night
  • Imagine Dragons - Believer
  • MAX/Gnash - Lights Down Low
  • Snakehips/MØ - Don't Leave
  • Little Mix - Shout Out To My Ex
  • Bruno Mars - Versace On The Floor
  • Panic! At The Disco - L.A. Devotee
  • Flo Rida/99 Percent - Cake
  • AJR - Weak
  • Noah Cyrus/Labrinth - Make Me (Cry)
  • James Hersey - Miss You
  • Calum Scott - Dancing On My Own
  • Katy Perry/Skip Marley - Chained To The Rhythm (DEBUT)
  • Ed Sheeran - Castle On The Hill (RE-ENTRY)
Top 5 HitBound Songs
1. Katy Perry/Skip Marley - Chained To The Rhythm
2. Snakehips/MØ - Don't Leave
3. The Vamps/Matoma - All Night
4. James Hersey - Miss You
5. Ed Sheeran - Castle On The Hill

~ The reason as to why I don't do blurbs here, is because it feels as if I am being redundant if the song eventually debuts on the countdown. I hope that cleared this up. :)

That's What I Blurb

~ Wow! That was only five weeks for Ed Sheeran - Shape Of You to become out #1 song. This is one of the fastest climbs to #1 that I have ever viewed. I hope it can block some "okay" songs from entering there, but if #2 was at the top again I wouldn't mind, or even if it was #3, that would be fine also. So, here's to hoping this song sticks up there for a while.

~ I can definitely see the spark in votes that Fitz & The Tantrums - HandClap has gotten lately. I wouldn't be surprised at this point if it hit #1.

~ We bore two new top 10 entrants this week. Our entrant at #9 was John Legend - Love Me Now and I am very content about that rising up here. #10, however, being Train - Play That Song, really shouldn't be this high. I mean, I think its an "okay" song at the moment, but that could really change to a red song once again, so I would prefer it not dominating this chart.

~ I am very glad seeing the rise from The Chainsmokers - Paris, and I don't expect it to be long before it reaches the top 10, possibly next week.

~ I am very happy to see that that drop from Lady Gaga - Million Reasons last week didn't last long, as it sprouted right back up and re-entered the top 20. Do I think this is top 10 material? Possibly. It depends if my opinion on the song begins to waiver again.

~ I really don't understand the constant obsession voters have with X Ambassadors - Unsteady week after week. It may have lost the title of worst song here, but that doesn't mean it should be in the top 20 still.

~ I'm very excited to see the higher song from The Weeknd and Daft Punk being I Feel It Coming, because at the moment that song is the better one. Hopefully this one will enter the top 20 next week.

~ Oh. I guess Twenty One Pilots - Heavydirtysoul didn't make a huge jump this week. I expected that. Oh well.

~ I wouldn't be surprised if Ariana Grande/Nicki Minaj - Side To Side kept jumping and dropping in and out of the top 20, as it has been acting rather strange lately.

~ That was one heck of a drop from The Weeknd and Daft Punk's Starboy. Hopefully this means its high peaking is over.

~ I really would appreciate the exit of Lukas Graham - You're Not There, as I simply would enjoy if it wasn't a song just clogging up positions here, not doing anything.

~ I didn't expect Rihanna - Love On The Brain to drop like this on its second week, considering its Spyder Harrison's favorite song on the countdown. I thought he had some power over that. Just kidding, he probably doesn't.

~ It looks like the end of our dear friends Adele - Send My Love (To Your New Lover) and The Chainsmokers/Daya- Don't Let Me Down's countdown runs. So long, thank you for your service. Your service was annoying at times, but thank you anyway.

~ I realize that the Hot 45 Chart has been delayed from last weekend. I was having some technical difficulties with the website. So, I hope to get that out later today, or early tomorrow, as well as the Valentine's Day edition. So, that's what is going on there, and I mentioned the other late post in the introduction.

~ I also would like to begin work on the 100,000 pageview special and I need ideas. Do you want another Q&A? A music video review? A slew of things in one post? Let me know below!!! <----------- I want your input!!! :)

~ Lastly, I plan to do a performance review on the Grammy's if it is in my schedule and if the performances are well as a whole. If they are crappy, I probably won't do one, just a heads up.

Let's Do A Top 20 Review!

New Entrants

~ Like always, let's start with the lowest entrant, reaching to this week's highest entrant. First off this week, we had Hey Violet - Guys My Age debuting at #39. This song is quite different from some I've heard in the past few months and it has a dark vibe too it which I believe fits the song perfectly. The vocals from the band match the song's purpose great. All in all, I am hoping to see this song soar on this countdown.

~ Next up this week, we have Rihanna with her fourth single off of her most recent album, Anti, Love On The Brain. This song had been on HitBound for a while and I wasn't quite sure if it would ever debut, and I'm glad it did this week. I enjoy the experimentation Rihanna took with this song, and it works out in her favor. I wouldn't see this song as doing bad here, so I would just wish it the best, as it deserves its success.

~ The third debut this week comes from singer and songwriter Julia Michaels, with her debut single, Issues. I didn't expect this song to debut here so fast, as it is kind of like one of those "underdog" songs, but clearly I was proved wrong. This song has been soaring on the radio charts in the past week, and I am very happy about that. This song may be short, but it really is a great debut single. She has amazing vocals and they fit the simple production this song has very well. I can also say that I would love hearing more from her in the future. I really hope this song does well here.

~ Our next entrant comes in the form of Daya - Words. I have been enjoying this song for a few months now and I'm glad it finally made it's debut on the countdown. I am enjoying this song as one of the best songs on her new album. I also enjoy the beat on this track, and it is very fast-paced and good to make a tune to. In the end, I hope this song will do well and I don't see it failing.

~ Our fifth debut is Twenty One Pilots returning with Heavydirtysoul, their most recent single. I came into this song with an open mind, and it worked out very well. I just love the strange element to all the writing in these guys' songs, and I usually enjoy them because of that. I love how they aren't afraid to take chances, and Heavydirtysoul is definitely a song like that. All I can say in the end is that I really hope to see this song elevate fast here.

~ Our final entrant all the way at #22 this week is The Chainsmokers - Paris. From first listen, this song was definitely something to hold onto. I would like to recognize this group for making some of the best electronic music this past year. Paris is definitely a good way to start out the new year, and is a good sign to another successful year for these guys. I don't know why this song gives uncredited vocals to a very credible artist, Emily Warren. I would have loved to see her name in the title. That's really the only complaint I have about this song, as her voice is very good in this track, and should be recognized. So, I have no doubt this song will do good and I hope to see it fly up the countdown here in the next few weeks.

Best Debut Of The Week: The Chainsmokers - Paris

Love On The Blurb

~ I didn't expect to see a rise back up to #1 from Maroon 5 - Don't Wanna Know after that drop to #8 last week, but I don't really care if it stays there a while longer.

~ I am very surprised by the four big jumps from the teens into the top 10 this week. The additions of Ed Sheeran - Shape Of You, Fitz & The Tantrums - HandClap, Zayn & Taylor Swift - I Don't Wanna Live Forever, and Machine Gun Kelly & Camila Cabello - Bad Things bring the top 10 to a state of being all green songs.

~ Well, that's a good sized drop out of the top spot from Twenty One Pilots - Heathens. 10 spots. Wow, that reminds me of the time last year when Stressed Out dropped 20 out of #1.

~ I enjoy that Ariana Grande/Nicki Minaj - Side To Side has made a small recovery.

~ Well, the top 10 entrance from Runaground - Chase You Down wasn't bound to last long. I praise it in achieving its peak position, nonetheless.

~ Holy crap! I can't believe Sia/Kendrick Lamar - The Greatest has dropped out of #2, down below the top 20. This song has definitely had one of the weirdest tenures in the past year. I still am in shock from Spyder Harrison announcing this drop. Wow.

~ I am very much enjoying even the smallest sings of holding on and not letting go from Steve Aoki & Louis Tomlinson - Just Hold On and James Arthur - Say You Won't Let Go. See what I did there? See the relation of the titles? Funny? Okay, I digress.

~ Well, Lukas Graham - You're Not There hasn't been a complete failure yet.

~ The Weeknd/Daft Punk - I Feel It Coming is showing signs of a Starboy start here.

~ I would say its ironic that Lady Gaga - Million Reasons has dropped the weekend she is set to perform for the Super Bowl, but we all know its probably due to Hits 1 voter logic.

~ I didn't expect to see The Chainsmokers/Daya - Don't Let Me Down to drop this much this week, but it's probably due to the new entrants from both artists.

~ I can't believe Gnash/Olivia O'Brien - I Hate U, I Love U just survived that clean wipe of songs off of here this weekend. I was literally shocked to hear.

~ The Hot 45 Chart will be out soon with the requested old format back. I will be trying two methods of charting this weekend. I ask that everyone viewing here views the chart when it comes out and looking at the alternative site I'm creating it on as well. I ask that you check out both versions and tell me which you like best, then I will do the most requested version weekly, while trying my best to keep up with the other version.

2016 Music Recognition Award Results

Well, this was your year-end choices for your music for 2016. This poll closed about a month ago and now I have gathered all of the results! I would like to just get right to the results, as it is fairly lengthy. Let's just go over the way this post will run before we get into the winners.

There were seven nominees for each category. Every song will have a place number (#1-#7). Each place number will be color coded, just to show the entirety of all results. Below, you will see the color code for each place number (#1-#7).

#1-Green
#2-Blue
#3-Pink
#4-Yellow
#5-Turquoise
#6-Red
#7-Orange

Purple will not be in use for this post.

If there is a tie, the places will still be in their same color, even if two are listed, there may not be a certain placed color for that time. For example, a tie for fifth place may look like (Artist - Song, Artist - Song, Artist - Song, Artist - Song, Artist - Song, Artist - Song, Artist - Song). So, in that case, orange would not be used. If there are multiple ties, the system still applies.

Got it? Okay! Let's jump right in to the nominees and our winners.

2019 Year-End Post #4: My Top 45 Songs of 2019

2019, similar to years past, has been a pretty average year for music. There was a lot of bad, but there was also a lot of good. This year ...
