New Entrants

~ The first of two entrants this week comes from Jordan McGraw--the son of Dr. Phil--with Flexible. He used to be part of that band, Hundred Handed, who had that song on the countdown last year which was kind of bland. This one's pretty similar in the sense that it doesn't have a lot that really pulls me in and makes the song great. I like the energy, but the lyrics here are kind of juvenile and something to cower in at parts. His voice isn't bad either, but I can't take the lyrics seriously--because I find them a little corny and stupid. I really don't care how this song fares on the countdown, if I am being honest.

~ With the second highest debut ever on the countdown, we have Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber with I Don't Care. This song isn't anything amazing, but it is a very well put together track. It has a nice, fun vibe and the track is produced well. Both Sheeran and Bieber deliver a few nice vocal moments throughout the length of the track and the lyrics deliver a nice message of sacrificing any bad vibes for the sake of someone you love. It isn't amazing, but it definitely proves to be a smooth and fun pop track and I hope to see it be successful here.

Entrant Rankings:
  1. Ed Sheeran & Justin Bieber - I Don't Care
  2. Jordan McGraw - Flexible

Hit-Bound
  • Kygo & Rita Ora - Carry On
  • Halsey - Nightmare (DEBUT)
  • Bazzi - Paradise
  • Khalid - Talk
  • Alec Benjamin - If We Have Each Other
  • The Chainsmokers - Kills You Slowly
  • Ava Max - So Am I
  • Jonas Brothers - Cool
  • SZA, The Weeknd, & Travis Scott - Power Is Power
  • Andy Grammer - Don't Give Up On Me
  • Mabel - Don't Call Me Up
  • P!nk - Hustle
  • Louis Tomlinson - Two Of Us
  • Martin Garrix/Macklemore/Patrick Stump - Summer Days (DEBUT)
  • lovelytheband - Maybe, I'm Afraid
~ The first of two debuts to Hit-Bound this week comes from Halsey with Nightmare. I like this song. It is incredibly daring, as it totally ventures out on a completely different sound for Halsey, and almost reminisces an early 2000's edgy pop. This song works nicely, and I hope to see it find success.

~ With the other debut to Hit-Bound this week, we have Martin Garrix, Macklemore, and Patrick Strump from Fall Out Boy with Summer Days. At first listen, I wasn't a huge fan of this song, but after a few more, my opinion grew on it. Patrick Stump has a nice sound here and Macklemore doesn't sound bad either. I expected a little more from Martin Garrix, but in all, I can get on board with this.

My Top 5 Hit-Bound Picks
1. SZA, The Weeknd, Travis Scott - Power Is Power
2. Bazzi - Paradise
3. Halsey - Nightmare
4. The Chainsmokers - Kills You Slowly
5. Andy Grammer - Don't Give Up On Me

I Don't Blurb

~ I am guessing that this is the last or the second to last week that Sucker will be atop the chart, because a song normally only lasts and upwards of nine weeks at #1 on the countdown. I am happy about this. I am hoping it will open up the possibility of Who Do You Love or Me! hitting #1 in the near future.

~ It is nice to see a few new nice additions to the top 10 this week. I am pleased to see Walk Me Home, If I Can't Have You, and Here With Me boot Let Me Down Slowly, Happier, and especially Close To Me from the top 10. It looks like we are moving into the territory of a better list of top 10 songs here.

~ I am deeply disappointed to see that Old Town Road has made an eighteen spot leap into the top 20 this week. I was hoping that this song wasn't going to make it above the #35 mark, given its rather anticlimactic trend within its first few weeks here.

~ Well, Jennifer Lopez & French Montana - Medicine is already off to a bad start. It is slipping on the first week. Similarly, Alessia Cara - Out Of Love isn't doing so hot here either. Two of the best songs that are on here right now are getting trapped below #30. I hope things turn around, especially for the latter.

~ Finally, I have waited for this day. Tequila is now in the bottom 5. I am just hoping this is done away with soon. It's no longer the worst song here, but it has been plaguing the countdown for far too long at this point.

~ As for our exits, I am glad to see Thank U, Next go because it was getting pretty annoying. I am sad to see 11 Minutes go, although it never really did good here or anywhere. It was too underrated, but I am glad it was here if anything.

Oh no, ME! needs to reach #1 not Who Do You Love and WDYL needs to leave the Top 3 forever. Sucker also needs to leave the #1 spot forever.

Imo I am very happy that both thank u, next & 11 Minutes left. Good riddance to those 2 songs.

No it is chuckingly crap. I absoolutely hate Macklemore's rapping voice. Who cares about Patrick Stump's voice, the singing is awful. I absolutely hate it.

I never heard of FLEXIBLE before I need to take a listen to see if I love it or not.
